1) This site uses the 20th Anniversary Edition of the Core Books. In order to play on this site, you are expected to have a copy of the 20th Anniversary Edition of the Core Book.
a) This does not mean that you must be an expert in playing the game. The staff is happy to help you learn how to play the game. However, if people do not purchase the book, the publisher will not earn the money necessary to continue producing content for the games we love.
b) Content from other 20th Anniversary Edition books, Revised Edition Books, Second Edition Books, and First Edition Books will be added on a case by case basis.
2) Setting - In places where there are differences in the setting the following rules are to be followed:
a) The site specific setting always takes priority over any setting material printed in the books.
b) If there is any way to interpret the content so that it is all “true” that will be the interpretation that is used on this site.
b) If there is no way to reconcile the two different contents, the “darker” version will be the version that is used on this site.
d) All rulings on the setting will be posted in the forums once they are made
3) Mechanics - As of the launch of this site, there are only three House Rules that alter the base mechanics of the game. However, the staff who is running a scene will be the arbiter of how all rules work for that scene. Staff members who deviate from the printed mechanics too often will be dealt with by the admins
a) Rules, mechanics, powers, gifts, rituals, etc. that have existed in previous editions but have no write up in the 20th Anniversary Editions will be approved or denied on a case-by-case basis. If there is a corralary that exists in the 20th Anniversary Edition, the older version will not be allowed.
Example: The Revised Edition Get of Fenris Tribebook has a Level 1 Ritual which allows them to make “Rune Stones.” That same tribebook has a Level 3 Ritual which allows them to use Rune Stones to see the future. In the 20th Anniversary Edition rules, Theurges have a new gift which allows them to see the future, thus negating the need for these rituals.
4) The Staff are the arbiters of any issues
a) The chain of command for the staff is as follows:
- Admins
- Storytellers
- Assistant Storytellers
5) Scene/Setting/Rules Issues
a) These will first be reported to the individual who is running the current scene AFTER the scene has finished
b) Scenes will not be delayed. No single player’s fun is more valuable than everyone involved. Take note of your issue and bring it up later
c) If there cannot be a resolution after the scene has finished, the issue may be escalated by one step on the chain of command
d) Once an issue has been escalated, that staff member will make a determination on the issue.
6) Player/Staff Issues
a) These will be immediately reported to the Admins of the site
b) The Admins will investigate the issue
c) Once a determination on the issue has been made, it will be final
7) Punishments
a) The following is not an exhaustive list of punishments available to the staff, but they are an example of punishments which might be levied for a violation of the Site Rules or the Code of Conduct
- Deletion of Character
- Docking of XP
- Temporary Suspension from the site
- Permanent Ban
b) The Staff that is imposing a punishment will attempt to determine a punishment that is fair, and is as close to fitting for the violation of the Site's Rules and Policies as possible.
