The Black Furies have never really had much of a presence within the Bloodied Hunting Ground Protectorate. Perhaps it was the fact that their kinfolk population isn’t as large as many of the other tribes and is even less populated within the region. Perhaps it is because there is little that the Furies were going to bring to the region that was not already being brought by the Red Talons, the Get of Fenris, the Fianna, and the Silver Fangs; although it would be unwise to suggest to a Black Fury that she wasn’t bringing something to a protectorate where there are so few of them to begin with. In all likelihood the truth is probably far simpler in that one of their strongest power centers in the world is less than 650 miles away. Sure, that’s a long distance if you’re walking, but it is a faster drive than Florida, and by Moon Bridge that’s just a hop, skip, and a jump away. It isn’t like you need a massive presence in the area when you can call forth hundreds of Garou from the Finger Lakes Sept if the need arises.
Then there are the other issues which have plagued the Black Furies in the region, for which the tribe has finally stopped accepting blame and has instead begun to go on the offensive; Chakrakris the Vile. Chakrakris used to go by a very different name when she was first known to the Bloodied Hunting Ground Protectorate. Back then, she was known as Elizabeth Carries Her Sisters. However, after a particularly ill-fated mission into the very heart of the Wyrm’s territory to the South, Elizabeth’s entire pack was wiped out. Almost a decade later, a woman bearing the very image of Elizabeth, with a swollen pregnant belly, was seen calling out orders to the fomori launching a counter attack against the Sept of the Moon Bow. Since then, the spirits have confirmed that Chakrakris is the Garou that was known as Carries Her Sisters. She was leading the fomori in that assault. She has been bred by a number of her new tribe and has survived each birthing experience only to come back more and more vile and monstrous than before in her attacks against the Bloodied Hunting Ground Protectorate.
This is something that has become a stain upon the Black Furies as a whole, although the tribe itself has managed to avoid the majority of the blame. After all, the Furies themselves were not in charge of the protectorate, therefore it wasn’t as if they chose to undertake the mission that led to Elizabeth’s capture. However, the tribal elders in New York have sworn that they will deal with this problem, and Black Furies have been flooding into the region in greater numbers than ever before. The only problem that comes with such an action is that it is almost never the older and established Garou who are willing to drop everything and move to a new location, with a new home, with Garou they don’t know, and a political system they are unfamiliar, so it has been the younger and lower ranked Garou that have been flocking to the protectorate.
This influx of warriors has been seen by many of the established Garou in the protectorate to be exactly what was needed after the disastrous failures of the Children of Gaia’s Folly. New blood, new ways of thinking, and more importantly replacements that can help deal with the increased threats that they Wyrm now represents. The protectorate has welcomed them with open arms… At least, publicly. Privately, there are still a vast number of clashes that occur between the Black Furies and many of the other tribes. The objectification of women among the Get of Fenris, the Fianna, and the Bone Gnawers (at least, among many of the kinfolk of those tribes if not the Garou themselves) is a point of contention. However, the Black Furies do not have quite a strong enough presence in the protectorate to openly challenge the status quo yet. There is also the small problem with the Red Talons, who have long been an ally of the Black Furies as a whole, are more interested in keeping the peace at the present time then they are with any of the human concerns of the Furies and how they see the world. Still, there is progress to be made, there is new blood in the war, and the Black Furies are beginning to show the protectorate exactly what that means!
