There is little that can be said about the Stargazers of the Bloodied Hunting Ground Protectorate. That isn’t because they have done anything wrong; there are no great tragedies which have caused their names to be stricken from the record, there are no great sins which have caused them to only be mentioned in hushed tones, there are no political follies which have happened which have forced for their tribe to become taboo. In fact, the reality is far simpler than all of that. There just aren’t enough of them in the region to be worth noting. That isn’t to say that there might not be a few hiding somewhere in the vast territory that is controlled by the protectorate. It is even possible that there have been a few that have been born to individuals who are Stargazer kinfolk while they were inside the protectorate’s territory. It is just that, lacking any kind of political presence at all, even a smaller presence than the Glass Walkers, there hasn’t been a single individual to take responsibility for or to train any of the them that there might have been. This means that, if there have been any Garou who were born of Stargazer breeding stock, they have now been adopted into the other tribes.
To more correctly put the tribe’s presence into perspective; there are entire packs and regions of the protectorate who have never seen a Stargazer and are convinced they are things only of legend that died off like the Croatan. There is even a favorite story that is often told of the last Stargazer to visit the protectorate, although it is a wise galliard who chooses to avoid telling the story within the earshot of Furnace Beneath the Mountain. It was a little over ten years ago at this point, while the Red Talon was just coming into his own as a leader in the Western area of the protectorate, and a Stargazer had received permission from the Kincaids to come and visit the area for a few days before continuing on with his family on some business that he was attending towards outside of the protectorate. He arrived in the middle of winter and decided to take his family on a day-trip to see the sights that border Furnace Beneath the Mountain’s Sept. Upon arriving at the Sept, the Stargazer commented that it seemed odd that the young Red Talon would send such an obvious signal to the entire world that something was different in the area, simply because he couldn’t control his own fury and rage. According to the legend the fight that followed lasted exactly two heart beats before the other Garou were able to pull the mangled and twisted body of the Stargazer from the Red Talon’s jaws. In return for which the Red Talon was forced to don a muzzle and travel to New York and give a formal apology to Antonine Teardrop while still muzzled, all because he was convinced that the Stargazer had been a Ronin that was questioning his authority.
Without any known kinfolk that live in the area permanently, and without a political presence, there is nothing that exists in the area which has been known to attract the Stargazers. The fact that the entire protectorate is controlled by tribes which are known for a lack of control over their passions and rage seems like it would be the perfect opportunity for those who seek to demonstrate the way restraint may prove to be the most valuable course of action, but there are few Stargazers who have managed to last long enough in the protectorate to choose to attempt to alter the status quo. There are always better battles to fight, or more stable places to raise kinfolk, or where a greater impact upon the Garou Nation may be made.
