Okay, so I'll be the first to admit that this suggestion addresses a personal pet peeve of mine, but that pet peeve exists for a reason. Right now, excluding Kinfolk and Fera, as well as Bone Gnawers and Glass Walkers since they cannot have Pure Breed, there are: - 3 characters of Pure Breed 5
- 3 characters of Pure Breed 4
- 1 character of Pure Breed 3
- 1 character of Pure Breed 2
- 1 character of Pure Breed 1
- 1 character of Pure Breed 0
It may be hypocritical of me to point this out given that my character has Pure Breed 4, but those numbers seem rather skewed to me. So I'm writing this post to ask that STs start limiting the levels of Pure Breed that incoming characters have unless high levels are particularly tied to the character concept. When more than half of the Garou characters who are eligible for Pure Breed have it at 4+ and almost a third have it at 5, it feels like that is the norm rather than anything exceptional. In my opinion that ends up not only devaluing Pure Breed narratively but also limits the ability of characters with low or no Pure Breed to excel socially.

I am not sure about limiting it in characters, I would be for limiting its scope and effect. I am told by some people that Pure Breed applies to all challenges. I would like to see it confined to only social challenges. force of personality does not play a role in how well you play a game for gamescraft or how well you fight in a combat challenge (only your fighting skill).
It has even been suggested that Pure breed applies in gift that are social in focus like Mastery (SF rank 4) or Kneel (not sure which that is) and I am not sure that it should apply when using spiritual energies.
something to consider and discuss.

I am always against the "X number of slots for this feature" mentality because it inherently prejudices the game against new players when slots are full before arrival.

I am with Andromeda on this one. It seems more than a little unfair to new potential players to limit a background that has been open to all players submitting characters thus far, so there are a bunch of PC's with Pure Breed. There are also a ton of NPC's in the setting without it. It all evens out in the wash in my opinion.

Can someone point me to the place where Pure Breed has given any single character such an unfair advantage over another, in such a way that any other background was not a viable option towards accomplishing character goals to such a degree that there was a true instance of mechanical disadvantage because someone didn't have, or because someone else did have, Pure Breed? What scene has been run where a player was disadvantaged for a lack of Pure Breed?
Or is this a post about how rare Pure Breed is supposed to be, and it is all over the place here?
Because those are not the same thing. And if the staff is going to be responding to an actual rules inquiry, we would like to know where the perceived problem lies.
