Werewolf is a complex game that involves a variety of complex themes that are interwoven throughout the main books. You will notice, in every setting book, there is a really boring section that contains this word: THEME. Please, consider this game as if it were a Rage Across... Setting Book, and consider this thread that Boring Part mentioned earlier. Before sitting down and writing up a character here, you really need to look through the source materials that the staff has provided for the game, and consider them as you make your character.
THEME ONE:
One of the biggest, and a central theme to Rage Across the Bloodied Ground, is VILLAINY. More specifically, villains themselves. In every oWoD game, it is the players who play the villains. Yes, there is often some other bigger evil out there in the oh so dark world, and the players ARE actively working against it, but that doesn't make them nice people. They are the lesser of two evils, at best.
None of the Septs are run by heroic individuals. One is run by a hyper-violent Red Talon that would probably rather kill you than talk with you. One is run by a Child of Gaia that has brazenly dedicated himself to reshaping his tribe through a laser focused dedication to Black Unicorn and Warfare. One is run by a Silver Fang who can't even be bothered to learn the names of the council of elders. The Fianna that handles the day to day operations (of the entire protectorate) proudly displays Confederate Flags from the windows of his home.
Within The Bloodied Ground Protectorate, they are honored, they are venerated, and they are cherished for their successes, their bravery, and their ability to get the job done. They aren't nice, they aren't kind, and they really have no reason to become those things. THEY ARE OUR DEVILS. THEY ARE THE ONES WE KNOW; the ones on our side. This is game where Rage politics controls everything. This is a game where, in order to get ahead, you have to make a deal with the devil.
If you walk in game with a character who is seeking to "unite the protectorate against the Wyrm" you need to be aware that doing so is likely going to require you to do some rather unpleasant things. If you walk in game with a character that is going to rant and rave about HUMAN morality and ethics, be ready to learn the hard way that this is not a setting where human morality and ethics are taken seriously. This isn't to say that you can't play these concepts. They are great concepts. But be aware that you're walking into a game where the setting is against you from day one, and it isn't going to change for your character short of some rather spectacular roleplaying and more hard work and time than most people are willing to give to a game. (You're just one person, shouting against the tide.)
If that isn't your bag of tea, don't worry about it. We're happy to refer you on to games where these themes are not focused on as heavily, and we hope you have fun there.
